Le Tigre

Research Background The work 'Le Tigre' is derived from extensive research utilizing high resolution photographic images of the artists sculpture combined with found material to explore complex sculptural and spatial concerns within a two-dimensional print medium. Rosemarie Trockel, Tatiana Trouve, are two influential international artists who also investigate the dialogue between sculpture, printmaking and the multiple. Weaver extends the potential for three-dimensional forms to have resonance and exist beyond the spatial presentation of the installation through her longstanding investigations with the print medium. Research Significance The Australian Print Workshop is a not for profit institution that has a board of directors and a curatorial panel that peer reviews and selects living Indigenous and non Indigenous Australian and International artists for exhibition and residency within Australia and globally. 'Le Tigre' was acquired by the British Museum from this exhibition for their permanent collection. Two works from this exhibition contributes to the further 5 prints already held by this Internationally renowned Museum, which has the largest collection of the most culturally significant prints and drawings in the world. Research Contribution How can a three dimensional sculpture be transformed through the processes of two-dimensional lithographic print: collage, assemblage, and computer technology to create new knowledge and technical outcomes that question the parameters for what constitutes sculpture and printmaking? Further more these suite of lithographs extend the possibilities of the print medium to locate sensory experiences of touch for fabricated and natural surfaces such as feathers, wool, bamboo, plastic, glass, and carbon-fibre, innovative combinations of materials that exist combined in Weavers longstanding sculptural practice.
