The objectives of this study were to (1) quantify the impact of Asparagopsis on rumen microbial communities by applying molecular microbiology techniques to the analysis of an in vitro batch fermentation system and (2) to determine if the antimethanogenic properties of Asparagopsis are driven directly by the concentration of bromoform or by other components of the macroalgal biomass.
