The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality stations where background pollution, long-distance transport of air pollutants and trend of air quality are collected. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2012 and the development of the last 20 years. The statutory limit values for particulate matter (PM10), NO2, NOx, SO2 and CO were met at all measuring points. The target value for ozone to protect vegetation was exceeded in Illmitz, Pillersdorf and Vorhegg, the target value for the protection of human health in Illmitz, Pillersdorf, Vorhegg and Zöbelboden. The information threshold was exceeded in Illmitz and Pillersdorf. In the long-standing comparison in 2012, the background measuring stations showed below average loads for all pollutants, especially at PM10.
