While Staphylococcus strains normaly reside on the skin and mucus membrane of animals, they are known to be opportunistic pathogens to human or various animals. In Korean fermented soybean foods such as 'doenjang', 'chunggukjang' and 'kochujang' these microbes are often isolated or identified by culture dependent or independent molecular methods. Therefore, the purpose of this project aims to elucidate genomic feature of Staphylococcus vitulinus strain isolated from fermented food.
