Regional differences in enterocyte function across development

The medial (jejunum) and distal (ileum) regions of the small intestine undergo dramatic functional changes after weaning. However, how these changes differ by region and developmental stage remains unclear. To address this, we performed bulk RNA sequencing on isolated epithelial cells from the jejunum and ileum of mice at postnatal day 6 (P6) and day 36 (P36) to analyze region- and age-dependent transcriptional changes Overall design: A 2 cm segment of jejunum and ileum was isolated from the same mouse. The segments were incubated in EDTA to separate intestinal epthelial cells from the intestinal wall. 4 mice age were utlized including both male and female mice.
