Provincial waterways (Environmental Vision 2016-2020)

This file contains provincial waterways as established in the Environment Vision province of Groningen 2016-2020.
As for our roads, there is also a maintenance and replacement task for our waterways. The Multiannual Management and Maintenance Programme only provides for the so-called “regular management and maintenance”, but does not provide space for large-scale dredging or replacement assignments (e.g. bridges/locks) for the waterway infrastructure.
The ‘Nota Beheer provincial waterways 2011-2020’ shows our goals and bottlenecks for our waterways. We realise the target images within our financial possibilities phased, by applying the corresponding job requirements in the case of new construction or replacement, balanced against other social interests. This concerns in particular the height and width of bridges. We use the “Guidelines of waterways” as a starting point.
