The data is mainly a primary data which was collected using well-structured questionnaires. The data was collected to examine the public health implications of waste management in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. Households in Akure were selected using the multistage sampling procedure. The first stage includes the use of stratified sampling, in which case residential areas in Akure were classified based on population density into three broad groups namely- high density, medium density and low density zones. Subsequently, two (2) prominent residential areas were purposively selected from each zone giving a total of six residential areas in all. The choice of these areas was based on how representative they are of the zone to which they belong (Table 1). The second stage involves the random selection of 30 respondents each from the six residential areas. In all, 180 respondents were sampled, however, only 174 questionnaires were duly filled and hence, used in the analysis.
