资源简介:
Clarias dussumieri, commonly known as the giant river catfish, is a vital freshwater species
with ecological and economic significance, holds significance in the catfish aquaculture
globally. Other species of clariid catfish viz., Clarias magur endemic to Indian subcontinents,
and male individual of magur does not responds to the synthetic hormone for induced
breeding, thus the male needs to be sacrifice whereas the Clarias dussumieri properly
respond to the synthetic hormones, thus it’s become important for, comprehensive genomic
information for this species is lacking. In this study, we present the de novo genome
assembly to address this gap by generating high quality chromosome level genome assembly
using PacBio long reads and Hi-C scaffolding. The assembled chromosome-level genome,
918.7MB in size. The genome characterization includes repeat characterization, identifying
1174725 SSRs, and prediction of 25369 genes with functional annotations. The Sigle copy
orthologs analysis places C. dussumieri in a distinct position with the magur. Additionally,
the study delves into reproductive gene and GAD gene isoforms responsible for synthesis of
GABA, a key player in final maturation and spermiation in cat fishes. The comprehensive
genomic information offers resources for comparative genomics with Clarias magur for
economic traits improvement.
