The impact of gamma irradiation at the chromosomal level was assessed in four F1s derived from gamma irradiated sweet cherry parent plants. Structural variants (SVs), including inversions, duplications, insertions, deletions, and other complex rearrangements were detected using the CLC variant calling pipeline. Functional analysis of SVs located in coding regions reveal several genes impacted and inherited as a result of irradiation. The results will serve as a reference, and potentially as a breeding resource, for future work assessing the impact of gamma irradiation on the genome of sweet cherry.
