Data from focus group on 'Student Attitudes towards the use of Generative AI as a Study Support tool'

A focus group was carried out in September 2025 with M140 and M248 student on 'Attitudes towards the use of Generative AI as a study support tool'The purpose of this research study is to understand the benefits of the use of GenAI as a study support tool for Open University students.The focus group was structured around the following topics: the positive value of Gen AI as a learning tool, scepticism and distrust of Gen AI, and concerns regarding academic integrity and ethical concerns.The anonymised transcripts are embargoed but a summary report with anonymised quotes will be made available.
