Diatom metabarcodes from the Gulf of Trieste (project acronym: GoTMetaB)

Over an annual sampling series we produced amplicons of two marker regions, namely 18S-V9 and rbcL in order to assess the diatom community especially in the light of two ecologically important genera. 18S amplicons were obtained using universal eukaryote primers, whereas the rbcL amplicons were obtained with diatom-tailored primers. Two datasets of rbcL sequences are available, one with a complete annual cycle but only with forward reads, and the other on a limited scale with both forward and reverse reads.
