ESR2 mutant female rats are infertile. Oocyte maturation is defective in ESR2 mutants and they fail to ovulate . We are investigating the role of estrogen-signaling via ESR2 during gonadotropin-induced oocyte maturation. Oocytes were isolated from the ovaries of four-week-old wild type and ESR2 mutant female rats injected with PMSG and hCG. Total RNA was isolated from the oocytes and the whole oocyte transcriptome was detected by RNA-sequencing.
