Chemical-physical parameters, major, minor, trace elements and stable isotopic composition of groundwater belonging to the hydrogeological basin of Castelvetrano-Campobello di Mazara Plain, Sicily (ltaly)

This dataset concerns the hydrogeological basin of Castelvetrano-Campobello di Mazara Plain that is located in the southwest area of Sicily and covers an area of about 227 km2. It is limited to the west by the Delia River, to the east by the Modione River, to the north by the chalky plateau of Santa Ninfa and to the south by the Sicilian Channel. Within the area investigated the most important urban centers are: Castelvetrano and Campobello di Mazara.
Geochemical methods have been an useful tools for understanding processes altering the quality of groundwaters during their flow, such as the interactions between host rocks and groundwater and pollution coming from human activities. Records include: chemical-physical parameteres, major elements, minor elements, trace elements and stable isotopic composition of water collected from 21 wells during 2004-2005. This study is part of the Water Protection Plan of the Sicilian Regional Government.
