The Memoranda of Cases Committed for Trial record the date of the committal, the name of the prisoner, the nature of the offences, to what Court they are committed, whether they were admitted to Bail or not and if so then what amount and the names of sureties, the name, occupation and residence of the witnesses, and the names of Committing Magistrates and the date when the papers were sent to the Attorney General.The volume dating from 1949 to 1972 contains a number of copies of Notices of Committal that were to be sent to the Clerk of the Peace. These notices date from 07/05/1969 – 13/12/1977.These volumes also contains registers of applications for auctioneers’, hawkers’ and other licenses, records of cases dealt with under the “First Offenders” provisions of the Crimes Act, lists of furniture in the court house, and lists of the law books at the court house.
