The map shows potential areas for the installation of compressed air reservoirs in Salzskavernen in the Schleswig-Holstein mainland area and the location of the salt structures in the underground. For the demarcation of detectable horizons for compressed air storage in salt caverns, the depth of the salt canopy (top of the Zechstein and Rotlieged deposits) up to 800 m under NHN served as maximum acceptable depth (current level of knowledge) for the excavation of caverns.
