Data for research article: "Dilemmas of Representation: Women in Pakistan’s Assemblies"

This dataset is based on an online survey in 2018 with sitting women legislators in the National Assembly, Senate, and four provincial assemblies of Pakistan (Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh). <br>This dataset was used in three papers of which two were journal articles and one, working paper. This dataset was produced as a part of the Action for Empowerment and Accountability (A4EA) programme at IDS.<br>The first article was titled "Women in Politics: Gaining Ground for Progressive Outcomes in Pakistan" and published as an IDS working paper. <br>The second article was titled “Dilemmas of Representation: Women in Pakistan’s Assemblies” and published in the journal Asian Affairs in May 2020 <br>The third article was titled “Women Politicians Navigating the ‘Hostile Environment’ in Pakistan” published in the IDS Bulletin in September 2020.<br>All women legislators (n=234) were administered an online questionnaire, out of whom we received a total of 200 responses (85 per cent).
