The association between body water compartments and lower limb relative strength: The moderating role of physical activity levels
收藏资源简介:
This dataset consists of a spreadsheet containing primary research data for the study titled "The association between body water compartments and lower limb relative strength: The moderating role of physical activity levels". The research explores the relationship between body water distribution and the relative strength of lower limb muscles, specifically investigating how this association is moderated by recreational physical activity levels in healthy young adults. The data was collected from 102 healthy participants (40 women and 62 men) who were students at the Opole University of Technology. The participants were characterized by engagement in recreational physical activity at varying levels. Data are organized into four distinct worksheets: Anthropometric characteristics: this tab provides the demographic and physical profile of the participants, including unique ID numbers, age, sex, height, body mass, and Body Mass Index. Muscle strength: this worksheet details the results of maximal voluntary isometric contraction testing. It includes three trials for both the left and right limbs for four specific muscle groups: knee extensors, knee flexors, hip adductors, and hip abductors. Measurements were performed using specialized stationary and hand-held dynamometers. Body water compartments: this tab contains hydration parameters assessed via multi-frequency segmental bioelectrical impedance analysis . It includes total body water percentage (TBW%), intracellular water (ICW) in kilogram, extracellular water (ECW) in kilograms, and the ratio of extracellular water to total body water (ECW%). Physical activity: this worksheet records the average weekly volume of intentional, recreational exercise, expressed in minutes per week. It reflects voluntary, moderate-to-vigorous intensity exercise performed during leisure time.
