APOBEC3s are host deaminases introducing C-to-U mutations in a single-stranded DNA/RNA. They are demonstrated to restrict viral propagation by destroying its genomic information, or increase its diversity to increase fitness. Here, we demonstrated that A3s can target episomal Merkel Cell Polyomavirus genome, replicating in a 293 derivative.
