Isolated forest islets (max 200m width)

Forest islets are forest patches small, thin and/or elongated that do not contain any interior habitat (100 m width) and are not physically connected to interior forest habitats. They may act as stepping stones for forest species to disperse depending on distances and landscape context. The proportion of forest in islets and the proportion of islets adjacent to natural habitats are given for the year 2006 per landscape units of 25 km by 25 km, per provinces (NUTS2/3) and per country (NUTS 0). Forest islets mostly embedded in a non-natural landscape with pre-dominant agricultural or artificial lands show a low second index value.
