VPRS 13177 Town Planning Appeals Record Book

The extant volume (1974 to 1982) of this series comprises Planning Appeals Record Book of the Town Planning Section, Estate Office/Property Group.The Section provided statutory and strategic town planning advice and services. The section was one of four Sections (others being Valuation, Survey and Draughting) comprising V/Line Property Group's Professional Services Department.Up until August 1985, the Town Planning Section checked all new planning schemes, amendments and changes to planning controls which affected MTA land, and submissions were lodged with the responsible authorities where considered to be appropriate. The hearing of submissions and further negotiations with Councils and the Ministry for Planning and Environment was also handled by the Town Planning Section.Prior to 1969 appeals under the Town and Country Planning Act were decided by the Minister for Local Government, who appointed delegates to hear the parties, inspect the site, and report to him. The Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Act 1968 provided for the establishment of a Town Planning Appeals Tribunal which decided appeals as an independent body.The Book is divided into five sections including:- Permits Issued/Refusal. (name of lessee, location name, correspondence file number/permit number, date permit was issued, action/comments,- Appeals heard by Town Planning Appeals Tribunal. (Location name, lessee's name, rent, date lodged, Comments (ie further hearing),- Town Planning schemes inspected,- Objections to and Hearing of objections to Town Planning Schemes, and- List of other meetings attended.
