This table provides monthly, quarterly and annual data, since 2012, of the number of companies registered in the Social Security according to tourist activities, employee intervals and legal nature. Monthly data are available since May 2020, as data were previously received quarterly. Companies that are registered with registered workers, in the General Regime and the Special Regime for Coal Mining, are counted on the last day of the month. The information is disaggregated for Canary Islands. In this case it is important to note that due to the method of accounting, the number of companies per island will always be greater than the total number of companies in the Canary Islands, since a company can have several listing accounts located on different islands. The definition of activities characteristic of tourism has been carried out in accordance with the document “Measuring Employment in the Tourism Industries – Guide with Best Practices” of the World Tourism Organisation.
