Data for: Prognostic value of a rapid sarcopenia measure in acutely ill older adults

Data from a cohort study of a public medical center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The sample comprises 665 acutely ill older adults (mean age 79.7 years, 63% women). Patients were assessed at baseline (acute care admission) according to a comprehensive geriatric assessment with special attention to a quick and easy-to-administer measure of sarcopenia (combination of hand-grip strength with calf circumference). Then, participants were followed up for 12 months to assess adverse outcomes such as new ADL disability, hospitalization, worsening walking ability and death.
