This data set consists of underway geophysical data from cruise 0304 on the
Nathaniel B. Palmer. This cruise went from Lyttelton, New Zealand to Dutch
Harbor, Alaska, via Honolulu, Hawaii.
The data set includes gravity, magnetics, Simrad EM120 swath bathymetry, and
ODEC Bathy2000 echo sounder with 100 m subbottom penetration. The main
scientific objectives of the cruise were a) to survey outboard of part of the
Kermadec trench; b) to survey a line on the Manihiki Plateau; and c) to survey
the Pacific-Kula magnetic anomalies that remain on the Pacific plate south of
the Aleutian Trench.
Underway geophysical data are archived with NGDC. Swath bathymetry data are
archived at Lamont-Doherty Geophysical Observatory. ADCP data are archived by
NOAA in Hawaii. There is no archive available for hosting the Bathy2000 data
but these files are available in SEGY format from the DIF author.
