MODY GENE SCREENING IN PREGNANT WOMEN WITH DIABETES. GDM_MODY

Pregnant women with diabetes may have underlying beta cell dysfunction due to mutations in genes causing Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY). MODY gene screening would reveal not only those genetically predisposed women but also their offspring. However, there is minimal data available on MODY in pregnant women with diabetes from India. Hence, utilizing the Ion Torrent Next generation sequencing (NGS) based protocol, we screened a panel of thirteen MODY genes in pregnant women with diabetes. The variants with pathogenic significance were confirmed by Sanger sequencing.
