Eel Tile Hydrodynamics and Canopy Flow Analyses

This data is from a study examining the flow within and around eel tiles to evaluate them as a flow attenuation measure to facilitate fish passage at high-velocity barriers. The flow was analysed through PIV and PIVlab in Matlab. We found that the tiles locally reduced flow velocity but also increased turbulence.

The attached spreadsheet features the turbulent parameters results and the streamwise velocity reduction with all abbreviations outlined in the paper containing the analysis of this data. Configuration SP refers to the tile being mounted with small protrusions near the wall and LP with the large protrusions near the flume wall. Treatments 1-6 increase in bulk velocity and keep flow depth constant while treatments A-E increase flow depth and keep bulk velocity constant. Treatments 4 and C are the same.
