Amount of external finance sought by SMEs in the last 12 months UK, 2019-2023

In a survey conducted between October 2023 and April 2024, small and medium enterprise (SME) employers in the United Kingdom (UK) were asked what amount of external finance they sought out in the last 12 months. The largest share of individuals (29 percent) sought between five thousand and 100 thousand British pounds in external finance for their SMEs. Only one percent of respondents stated that they sought out ten million British pounds or more in the past year.
