资源简介:
We conducted a two-phase greenhouse experiment using Solidago canadensis as a focal invader and 16 co-occurring invaders to condition soils in monocultures and mixtures, and then tested effects of these soils on a native plant community. In phase I, Solidago canadensis was selected as the focal invader, and 16 other invasive plant species that commonly co-occur with S. canadensis in the field were chosen as the co-invaders, to create different soil-conditioning treatments. The treatments included: one monoculture of the focal invader (two individuals per pot), 16 monocultures for each co-invader (two individuals per pot), 16 mixtures with the focal invader and one co-invader (one individual of each species per pot). Each treatment was replicated eight times, resulting in a total of 264 pots. At the end of this phase, soil samples were collected and divided into two portions: one for soil fungal community measurement and the other as inoculum in phase II. In phase II, the aboveground biomass of a native plant community (six species) to the conditioned soils were assessed.
