Supplementary Material for a Musculoskeletal Simulation Paper (OpenSim)"Influence of footwear and walking pattern on triceps surae force-sharing: A comparison of generic and EMG-informed simulation" Authors: Elias Wallnoefer, Clara Egner, Willi Koller, Robert Csapo, Arnold Baca, Hans Kainz Journal: PLOS ONE (under review) Abstract:This study investigates how footwear (barefoot vs. high heel) and movement type (gait vs. Latin dance) influence force-sharing between the soleus, gastrocnemius medialis, and gastrocnemius lateralis muscles of the triceps surae. Two musculoskeletal simulation approaches were compared: a generic static optimization (MuscleRedundancySolver) and an EMG-informed optimization incorporating measured surface EMG signals. Ten competitive female Latin dancers were analyzed during the propulsion phase of gait and a standardized dance movement (Rumba Walk).
