Vibrio isolated from Guanabara Bay, RJ, Brazil

This study evaluated the cultivable Vibrio community in the Guanabara Bay (GB), a recreational, yet heavilypolluted estuary in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Five antimicrobial-resistant strains were submitted to whole genome sequencing, revealing insights into their pathogenic potential and resistance profiles. Such information highlights the risks that Vibrio spp. may pose to public health and reinforces the extent of their metabolic versatility. It also stands out as one of the first efforts to describe the genomes of Vibrio spp. isolated from Guanabara Bay.
