Arabidopsis annotation was initially done by members of AGI (Arabidopsis Genome Initiative) which was later continued by the Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) in collaboration with MIPS. After the final release of the annotated genome by TIGR in 2004, The Arabidopsis Information Resource (TAIR) assumed the responsibility of updating the Arabidopsis annotation. Annotation at TAIR is done by manual curation from the research literature and direct submissions from the research community. Detailed description of the annotation process is described by Swarbreck et al. in Nucleic Acids Res. 2008 January. This assembly was created by NCBI based on the information provided by TAIR.
