The cotton crop is the Brazilian agribusiness segment that granted more than 13 billion dollars last year. In South America stand out as cotton pests , manly the Anthonomus grandis populations, which cause enormous damage to floral buds, reducing the quality of cotton fiber production. Studies aimed to control insect pests that attack this culture represent significant relevance for the sector. Among the potential targets for control insect pests, midgut molecules could be crucial due to its different functions, including digestion, mechanical protection, and immune defense. This study aims to identify new biotechnological assets through functional genomics data obtained from RNA-Seq experiments.
