Bicycle sharing systems represent the next generation of traditional bike rentals, automating the entire process from membership registration to rental and return. Currently, there are over 500 bicycle sharing projects worldwide, encompassing more than 500,000 bicycles. Due to their significant role in addressing transportation, environmental, and health issues, these systems have garnered considerable interest today. Beyond their practical applications, the data characteristics generated by these systems also make them attractive for research. Unlike other transportation services such as buses or subways, bicycle sharing systems explicitly record travel times, departure, and arrival locations. This feature transforms bicycle sharing systems into a virtual sensor network capable of sensing urban mobility. Consequently, it is anticipated that most significant events in cities can be detected by monitoring this data.
