Rough statement: In an expanding universe with horizons and quantum fields, there exists a minimum inevitable exergy dissipation floor associated with every thermodynamic process, tied to cosmic expansion and horizon formation. This floor cannot be eliminated by reversible processes, even ideally, in contrast to classical thermodynamics where ideal (reversible) processes can in principle approach zero dissipation. In other words: no process in the real universe can ever approach true reversibility beyond a cosmic irreducible “leak” parameter which arises from coupling to the expanding spacetime.
