COMBINING ONLINE AND TRADITIONAL LEARNING TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING
收藏资源简介:
The present article examines how the deliberate combination of online and traditional classroom instruction can strengthen learners' communicative competence in foreign language education. Rather than treating distance technologies as a substitute for face-to-face teaching, the study approaches them as a complementary resource that extends opportunities for authentic interaction beyond the physical classroom. Drawing on an analysis of current pedagogical literature and on observations of blended courses implemented in higher education, the paper identifies the conditions under which hybrid formats produce measurable gains in speaking fluency, listening comprehension, and pragmatic awareness. The findings suggest that communicative outcomes improve most noticeably when digital platforms are assigned the tasks they perform best — repeated exposure, individualized pacing, and asynchronous written interaction — while classroom time is reserved for spontaneous oral communication and immediate feedback. The article concludes with practical recommendations for designing blended language courses that balance technological flexibility with the irreplaceable value of live human dialogue.
