COAWST model simulations of rip currents in single channels

This project includes COAWST numerical model simulations tested with field observations used to investigate the coupling and feedbacks between waves, morphology, rip currents, and alongshore currents in and near dredged channels interrupting sandbars. Rip currents are strong seaward flowing currents near the beach that are hazardous to swimmers and are important for transporting pollutants, sediments, and larvae. This set of simulations can be used to investigate how rip currents vary as a function of different wave properties and bathymetry.
