Data for: Impact of a Scratch Programming Intervention on Student Engagement in a Nigerian Polytechnic First-Year Class: Verdict From the Observers

This dataset contains ratings by five computer science educators. We randomly assigned one observer per week to observe a class of first-year computer science in a north-central Nigerian polytechnic. Using a 20-item class observation protocol, each educator observed the levels of students' affective, behavioural, and cognitive engagement in a constructionist Scratch programming class. Observations took place during the weekly two-hour class session. Class observations lasted for five weeks.
We can further explore this data for levels of programming attitude, knowledge, skills and collaborations students exhibited during the classes. This may provide another perspective on the impact of Scratch on novice computing students.
