This study characterizes the fungal and bacterial communities associated with a microbial consortium isolated from sewage sludge collected at wastewater treatment plants in Seville (Andalusia, Spain). The consortium was exposed to diclofenac under controlled conditions, and community composition was analyzed before and after complete degradation of the compound. This approach provides insight into the microbial dynamics involved in diclofenac biodegradation and highlights the potential of sewage-derived consortia as bioremediation agents.
