Whole-genome sequencing of Bordetella pertussis grown under serial laboratory passage

Select clinical isolates of Bordetella pertussis, submitted to CDC through either routine or enhanced surveillance, were cultured and passaged under laboratory conditions with replication. At set intervals, bacterial growth was harvested en masse for whole-genome sequencing to assess the accumulation of point mutations and the stability of chromosomal rearrangements.
