Denaian thyme (Thymus daenensis) – List of descriptors

This list contains an initial set of characterization and evaluation descriptors for Thymus daenensis Celak, commonly known as denaian thyme. This species has high essential oil and thymol content, which reveals its superiority compared to other species. This plant is endemic to Iran, and its indiscriminate harvesting from its natural areas has threatened it. This list of descriptors follows an international format to create a comprehensive, understandable language for the plant genetic resource data. It is an essential tool to enable the gathering and sharing of information about the denaian thyme biodiversity. It will facilitate access to and utilization of Thymus daenensis accessions held in gene banks and does not preclude the addition of further descriptors, should data subsequently become available.
