Lightning data

Lightning data is a data set where the user can access single light in near real time. Each lightning discharge is linked to a position and physical properties such as amperage and uncertainty. The data set has proven to be important for many industries that rely on the security of lightning. This applies, for example, to maintenance of the power grid in the power industry, aircraft and helicopter traffic or companies engaged in chemistry or blasting. Since MET took over responsibility for the data set on 1.1.2016, there has been a clear need for automated notification services of lightning activity.
