Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2022: Construction of NHERI TallWood Test Structure: From Tree to Tower

This research is a detailed summary of the relationship between NHERI TallWood and the mass timber industry. The NHERI TallWood is unique as it is a 10-story mass timber structure that will be tested for seismic resilience of high-rise timber structures. The qualitative data from this study provides an outline of the construction process of this test structure as well as future research to be conducted. This paper is intended primarily for researchers in the mass timber field, specifically those who work with seismic hazards and will be using the data from this project as a literature summary to help conduct their own analyses.
