NF denotes no homologues found.aIncomplete sequences that are not included in Figures describing the homologues of Piezo channel subunits. Genes encoding homologues of Piezo also exist in non-pathogenic, free-living protozoa such as P. tetraurelia and T. thermophila[6], and Naegleria gruberi (XP_002682879), but these protozoa lack genes encoding homologues of Msc channels. The free-living choanoflagellate, Monosiga brevicollis, has genes encoding homologues of Piezo (XP_001743938 and XP_001743848; incomplete sequences) and MscS (XP_001744510, XP_001748077 and XP_001745172).
