Red Maple Leaf Litter Metagenome

The goal of this study was to determine the dominant bacterial taxa present on decomposing red maple leaves in a freshwater stream and to see how the community composition changed with respect to sediment disturbance. The samples used for this portion of the project were genomic DNA extracted from red maple leaves under low- and high-sediment disturbance following 32 and 64 days of instream incubation. These sequences are from a freshwater stream leaf breakdown study and came specifically from red maple leaf packs incubated for either 32 or 64 days instream in west-central Georgia, USA.
