Synthetic Electric Grid for Ghana

This document presents a synthetic power grid test case developed for Ghana, West Africa, which can be utilized for power systems studies, algorithmic benchmarking, regional research, and educational purposes. Using publicly available data and methods from prior literature, this synthetic grid provides a "realistic but not real" test case that can be utilized for various applications.

This second version is an update of the original model, intended to incorporate more detailed modeling. Our initial model represents each substation as a single bus to create the initial topological skeleton upon which the rest of the network is built. Subsequently, we have extended this model to incorporate multiple buses with transformer connections in substations that connect different nominal voltages. This has increased the total number of buses and transmission lines in the network. The generation and demand profiles remain unchanged.
