资源简介:
The research sought to understand how individuals' moral judgments, reasoning and decisions are shaped by immediate situations, which differ in terms of unpredictability and competition. The research consisted of four experimental studies with Chinese college students as participants. Our main hypotheses were that (1) unpredictability led to lower other-centeredness in moral judgments, reasoning, and decisions; (2) competition led to higher other-centeredness in indirect moral tasks (e.g., reasoning, deliberate decisions or judgments based on utilitarian concerns); (3) competition combined with unpredictability led to lower other-centeredness in direct moral tasks (e.g., spontaneous decisions or intuitive judgments based on deontological concerns). In Datasets for Studies 1-3, a "condition" variable corresponded to the between-subject experimental manipulation used in the studies to induce situational unpredictability and/or competition. In Study 4 Dataset, "condition" variable referred to the between-subject manipulation of direct/intuitive and indirect/rational moral thinking style. In addition, there was a "block" variable corresponding to a within-subject manipulation of situational unpredictability and/or competition. The main dependent variables in these datasets were: donation (direct moral task) and SCTScore (moral reasoning as an indirect moral task) in Study 1 Dataset, volunteering (direct moral task) and SCTScore (indirect moral task) in Study 2 Dataset, ISO (intuitive moral judgments as direct moral task) and RSO (rational moral judgments as indirect moral task) in Study 3 Dataset, and AllocationScore in Study 4 Dataset.
