Arboreal acarofauna on two species of tropical trees in Cát Tiên National Park, Vietnam.

Data for species-level assemblages of free-living arboreal mites (Acari: Oribatida, Mesostigmata, Prostigmata) on two tree species, Haldina cordifolia and Dipterocarpus alatus, in Cát Tiên National Park, Vietnam. Five trees of each species were examined. The following microhabitats were sampled: forest floor litter and soil; tree trunk bark at three heights (0.5m, 8-10m, 15-20m); canopy leaves and small branches. Two sampling methods – Tullgren-Berlese and substrate washing – were compared for extraction of mites from tree bark. Data provided: species-sample raw counts, total abundances normalized by 100 g of substrate.
