Dataset for "Unexpected cultural echoes: Gender representation in Hebrew and Arabic children's picture books"

This dataset accompanies the article “Unexpected cultural echoes: Gender representation in Hebrew and Arabic children’s picture books.” It contains the coded data used for statistical analyses reported in the study. Each row represents one book distributed by either Sifriyat Pijama (PJ) or Maktabat Al-Fanoos (AF). Variables include book title, language, character gender, role type (titular or central), author gender, and library affiliation, as described in the article’s Methods section.
