资源简介:
This collection comprises images from historic building survey work of an outbuilding at Cloughs Cross Farm, Parson Drove, Wisbech. This work was undertaken by Archaeological Building Recording Services in September 2019. The archaeological standing building survey of the outbuilding associated with Cloughs Cross Farm was commissioned from Archaeological Building Recording Services by Independent Archaeology Consultants in advance of the proposed conversion of the building to residential use. The building was originally constructed as part of a range of buildings associated with the North Level Drain in the early 1830s. The building is of limited architectural interest having originated as stabling and later converted to a cow shed and general store. The building contains a number of features rich in symbolism, notably a Mandorla window and two head motifs, one on the gable and the second above the Mandorla window. Both of these features are associated with early Christian and medieval ecclesiastic architecture. More subtle is the apparent burn mark on the Mandorla window, which can be identified as an apotropaic mark.
