Spores SEM dataset

Automatized species identification tools have massively facilitated plant identification from photographs. In mosses, spore ultrastructure appears as a promising taxonomic character, but has been largely under-exploited. Here, we determine how the number of spores, their polarity and variation among populations and capsules affect the performance of an automatized identification tool.
