Digital Elevation Model of Xanthi Area

The development of a high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for the Xanthi region is based on the integrated use of high-accuracy ground surveying measurements and LiDAR remote sensing data. Ground measurements obtained through GNSS and geodetic instruments provide reliable control and calibration points, while LiDAR data offer dense three-dimensional sampling of the terrain, enabling the effective separation of bare earth from vegetation and man-made structures. The combined processing and fusion of these datasets result in a high-resolution and high-accuracy DEM, suitable for applications such as hydrological analysis, natural hazard assessment, spatial planning, and environmental monitoring in the wider Xanthi area.
